Our Story & Mission Statement
I grew up with a father who was a High School and Community College cabinet teacher and coach. He also had a small wood shop business in our garage, where he made various furniture pieces for stores to sell. This is where I developed my skills (for cleaning off machines and sweeping the garage) and passion for woodworking.
In 2021, I retired from my teaching and coaching career. Following in my father’s footsteps, I too, have started my own small wood shop business in my garage. I have named it Harris Legacy Woodworks. Whereas, my father built large furniture items, at this time my niche is custom made luxury cutting boards. My goal is to build you a board that you will display on your counter like a piece of furniture.
The legacy aspect of the name for the business comes from my desire to teach my five grandkids the skills my father taught me with cleaning machines and sweeping floors. With the money they earn from working in the shop, I intend to teach them how to give, save, and spend their money. Harris Legacy Woodworks will also model giving. Each year, our goal is to donate to a charity a % of our profits for a special “heartfelt” need.
Your board will have a scripture verse engraved on it. I have chosen 1 Corinthians 10:31 as my belief statement for Harris Legacy Woodworks; “Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God”.
